The Church With Choices!

Get Involved

Missionary Support
First United Methodist Church supports mission projects worldwide, through special church giving, and different offerings throughout the year. We give additional support to Dorothy Frederickson in Haiti, and Terry Wortz.

Community
We are involved on the local level with Love, Inc., Crop Walk, Habitat for Humanity, Thanksgiving and Christmas Baskets, and the Fresh Food Initiative. The Food Pantry for Hastings is housed in and staffed by our church, and the FFI takes place here weekly.

Parish Visitors
This is a ministry performed by a team of visitors who are committed to regularly call on those of our church family who have health problems, find it difficult to get out, or just desire contact from a person of the congregation. The visitors offer spiritual support, build relationships, help make connections, and have knowledge of available resources.

Refugee Sponsorship
Hastings First is active in helping refugees make a new start in the United States. Sponsorship involves finding housing, providing furniture, clothing, and food, as well as helping the refugees learn the language and get jobs. This ministry enables the refugees to become self-sufficient and successful in their new home. Just recently our Bosnian refugee family became US citizens!

Volunteer Opportunities
There are many opportunities for anyone to get involved here at the church, from spring cleaning, manning a food booth at Summerfest, walking in the CROP Walk, working in the Food Pantry, or just helping out in the church office. Please contact our staff and let us know what you have a passion for, and we’ll point you in the right direction.
